My daddy and his garden were unquestionably a thing. He was just like his mom that way. I remember going to my Grandma Hansen’s on Sundays and sitting out on her porch admiring her flowers. My dad took after her that way and I only wish some of it would have rubbed off on to me! My daddy was all about making everything as beautiful as it could be!
As we celebrate Father’s Day….. this is what I think about my daddy. His garden and yard were especially beautiful. He spent countless hours outside going through every plant and shrub, making sure there were no dead leaves. Calling him meticulous was definitely an understatement! I’m grateful for the lesson he taught me, of taking care of everything I had… just like he took care of his garden.
ABOUT THIS HAT I INHERITED FROM MY DADDY
This cherished hat, was passed down to me from my daddy. It originally belonged to his dad and holds an irreplaceable place in my heart. Its weathered brim and faded fabric tell tales of countless adventures and memories, bearing the weight of a wonderful legacy. However, it’s become more than just a hat to me….. it has become a symbol of my family’s history, a tangible connection to my roots. Indeed it connects the past and present. This hat embodies the essence of my heritage and reminds me of the love and stories that have shaped my identity.
I blogged about this hat HERE and HERE.
In the tapestry of my family’s history, my dad’s garden emerges as a living testament to his passion. Undoubtedly, it was nurtured by the seeds of love that were sown by his mother. Just like the hat that carries the weight of my family’s heritage, his garden bloomed with an abundance of memories and traditions. Not only that, but each of his flowers whispered stories of generations past.
Every year that passes, the parallel between my daddy’s garden and the cherished hat become even more apparent. Both represent a deep connection to the past, a devotion to preserving and nurturing what has been handed down. This Father’s Day, as I think about this hat and his garden, I’m celebrating not only his green thumb but also the cherished bond that unites MY FAMILY across time and generations.
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY DADDY….. I LOVE YOU!
