The Importance of Moving

My sunglasses are HERE!

Friends NOW MORE THAN EVER…. the IMPORTANCE OF MOVING is critical. I know I preach about this a lot to people who are close to me, and perhaps too much here. But I’m so passionate about this and the DIFFERENCE it can make in your life! I’m serious!!!

I’ve written many blogs on this, so I’m sure I’ll be repeating myself a little bit here and there. But it’s important to truly understand, and to know the HEALTH BENEFITS of MOVING! What does that mean? Everything is relative, and it’s like I was telling someone just a day or two ago….. two minutes is better than nothing!!!!! TWO minutes will work up to THREE, which will work up to FIVE, which will work up to TEN and so on!

Exercising is not only great for your physical health, but for your mental health as well! And with the craziness of COVID-19, we probably all need some good mental health techniques right now. Did you know that EXERCISE releases certain chemicals (endorphins and serotonin) that will actually IMPROVE YOUR MOOD? YES, it’s true! I’ve never suffered much from depression, but when I miss my exercise I’m seriously NOT THE SAME person!

REGULAR exercise (at least 4 times per week) can literally REDUCE your stress levels and anxiety! These are some pretty INCREDIBLE benefits with very little effort! I mean come on…….. TWO, FIVE, TEN, TWENTY MINUTES A DAY? Who can’t do that? NO EXCUSES!!!

I want to respect everyone’s situation here, so hopefully I won’t step on anyone’s toes, BUT………. THERE REALLY ARE NO EXCUSES in my book. If you are overweight, you have bad knees, bad hips, bad back, you’re depressed, you live where it’s cold, it’s been raining, you can’t afford workout equipment in your home, you are too tired, too sore……… blah, blah, blah! There IS ALWAYS A WAY TO MOVE!

Before I bought this piece of equipment a month ago for my home, I was out walking and running EVERY SINGLE MORNING, and sometimes for an hour and a half. I have chronic pain in my feet from joint issues and titanium implants. But, I found a way. If that much impact is bad on your joints….. get a bike. If you can’t afford a bike, do low-impact workouts at home in front of your TV. I’m just saying, that if you WANT the benefits, there IS A WAY to get them, but IT WILL TAKE SOME EFFORT and COMMITTMENT!

Ok there, I said it……. everything I know about THE IMPORTANCE OF MOVING! On Easter I went on an hour walk, then a bike ride with my family, then a hike and a picnic and then a pickleball match! I’m just saying, not to make you feel less, but to get you to see that being active IS FUN!!!!! IT REALLY WAS AWESOME! Friends…. PLEASE get up and MOVE! I PROMISE….. you’ll feel better in every way possible!

  1. You just verbalized what goes on in my head ALL THE TIME! If more people only realized how much better they’d look and feel…..

    1. Dawn I AGREE!!!!!!!! It makes me feel bad that people don’t realize ALL THE BENEFITS!!!!!! XO

  2. I feel just as good after a 10 minute walk, as I do a 10 mile walk. The body really doesn’t decipher the difference between long distance or short distance. So yes a little certainty goes a long way.

  3. I could not agree with you more! When I exercise regularly-it makes a huge difference in how I feel physically and mentally. You are an inspiration! ❤

  4. In the last year I started exercise because I was diagnosed as pre diabetic. I’ve lost week and my level are normal but the greatest part is my swollen knees are now normal and the pain is gone. Movement has given me my life back at 54 I wish I had tried this at 35 but it’s never to late. Blessings!

    1. Sharon!!!! THIS IS AWESOME TO HEAR!!!! Our health truly IS EVERYTHING! I’m so happy for you in that you were able to figure things out for yourself! WAY TO GO GIRL!!! CONGRATULATIONS! XO

  5. I love reading your blog!
I’m 58 and just lost 10 pounds from dancing in my little guest bedroom for 30 min 4-5 times a week along with 30 min of light weights. I have 15 – 20 more to go but it is so FUN!
