Do you love corduroy? This dress is THE SOFTEST kind, and I had to share with you before it was gone. My CORDUROY STYLE GUIDE is wintery and cozy just how you think of this fabric! My colorful floral dress above first got my attention because of the pattern. But when it arrived and I saw that it was made of corduroy, it made me even happier! It’s the softest kind too.
This fabric reminds me of my childhood. My mom once made for me a maroon colored (that’s what I called that deep red back then) pantsuit. Back in the day when we finally got to wear pants to school, they had to be dress pants or pantsuits. I was talking to my granddaughter the other day and she was telling me oftentimes the kids wear their pajamas to school and not even on “PAJAMA DAY”. I guess that should be normal for me, right? WHAT CORDUROY USED TO BE
Corduroy used to be pretty uncomfortable. It was stiff and could be really rough. But now it’s different and really much nicer and easier to wear. You can find super soft corduroy fabrics out there and most I’ve seen have some stretch, which this dress has. The stretch is especially good when buying pants! Not only are they more comfortable, but the fit is better too.
MY GUIDE TO THE BEST CORDUROY
THESE VERY FLATTERING CORDUROY JEANS, are buttery soft! They come in five different colors. They tend to run a bit short, so if you’re a tall girl and don’t want them too short, order the TALL. My favorite color is this Iris Blue!
I have THIS STYLE in a berry color. A wide-leg crop with a 12.5″ rise. They are super flattering, and worn with a beautiful blouse and heels as shown here, they can look really dressed up. These particular ones come in this moss color as well as ivory. HERE IS ANOTHER LINK to more colors.
Don’t stop with just pants….. what about a JUMPSUIT? I think this is so cozy! Wear a leather jacket over the top or a big puffer coat or even an animal print faux fur coat! I might need to add this one to my collection! HERE is one that’s a little more budget-friendly and in a very similar color!
You can see here how feminine this particular CORDUROY SHIRT is. Corduroy doesn’t have to look rugged! The ruffle detail is darling and the pink is perfect! Wear this tucked or untucked or as a jacket. Worn with a contrasting colored trouser (think purple, red, blue) it would be a gorgeous winter outfit!
Lastly I have to share some very HAPPY COLORFUL FLORAL CORDUROY. These are a high-rise style with a raw hem. I think they are such fun! Love them paired with the toffee colored boots and the faux leather. You see here how the three textures work so well together…. leather, corduroy and suede.
WHAT TO WEAR WITH CORDUROY
I personally don’t love corduroy on corduroy. I love mixing textures (as pictured above) with it such as silk, denim, faux leather and ALL your sweaters! It seems that boots go best with this fabric, because of the season it represents. But LOAFERS are very cute as well as sneakers. And then there’s me…… who loves to wear heels with anything. Wear a beautiful heel LIKE THESE, or a pump for a more polished look. For an outer layer, SCARVES are a perfect accessory! And your coat can change up your whole vibe in an instant!
