Dressing Up For The Holidays

Dressing up for the holidays. Chic Over 50.
This is a pic from the archives, but one of my favorite festive looks from Anthropologie

Dressing up for the holidays is part of all the fun this time of year! It’s always a good idea to have in mind some ideas for HOLIDAY OUTFITS, so when the time comes you are ready and prepared to look your best! It’s such a busy time of year, and if you are the main cook and entertainer in your household, you probably don’t have the time to think much about what you’re wearing to your holiday gatherings.

I might be a little late to the game, but still wanted to share, because after all we will be celebrating for a whole month if we’re talking the new year as well. Any of these looks could be worn to any of your celebrations!

There are all kinds of ways to dress for the holidays from extreme glam to super laid back and casual. I thought it would be fun to show you several holiday outfit looks that would be inspirational to you! For me personally, I have several things in my closet that are only for the holidays. I suppose you could wear them other ways, but for the most part, the sequins and rhinestones are saved for special occasions.

DRESSING UP FOR THE HOLIDAYS FOUR DIFFERENT WAYS…

When I shop, I mostly buy pieces that I love, and don’t worry too much about buying whole outfits together. I know that if I have in my closet things that I love, there will always be a way to put them together many different ways.

HERE ARE FOUR DIFFERENT HOLIDAY LOOKS THAT I WOULD WEAR…

LOOK ONE~

I LOVE this darling festive sweater with the lace skirt. The juxtaposition is right up my alley. I’ve added a basic animal print heel, and some simple sparkly earrings. I would wear this to a more casual holiday gathering, maybe a daytime office look, or lunch with some girlfriends, or even a look to wear to your church service!

LOOK TWO~

This neutral look is so classy…. with an added punch of red just in the booties! The jewelry is just enough glitz. The pants have a beautiful cut to them and are just over $50, a real steal! Each of these pieces can be worn styled down with tees, jeans, and even sneakers! Do you see what I mean? For example the top with your favorite jeans, or the pants with a simple tee.

LOOK THREE~

This skirt is so darn fun! I would totally wear this all year long for any kind of fancy and fun thing going on. You can wear it with a tee, a tank, a sweater, heels, flats, boots, sandals. It’s so versatile. I’ve paired it with a bow adorned black top and a pair of pretty heels!

LOOK FOUR~

I had to add one holiday look with jeans, as that’s what I wear the most. These jeans are SO SUPER SOFT! And you really can dress them up in to a very festive look as I have here. And the plaid shoes are so cute, and I think I love them styled the most with jeans! Add some statement earrings and you’re ready for a gathering at home, a casual office party, or GNO!

I hope this has given you some ideas for dressing for the holidays! It’s always fun to glam it up a little more than the norm! A special time of year deserves a little more attention to how we present ourselves, don’t you think?

  1. So many party looks! I prefer separates so I can split them up and get more uses from them. Oh those blue embellished pumps are stunning!!!!🤩 So sorry about your account being hacked, you would think an entity of that magnitude & possess fortune as it does, would do more to protect those who make them such fortune!

    1. Hi Cheryl…. I prefer the separates too. I think it gives you so much more versatility within your wardrobe! And yes to the blue! I think blue is an unexpected color for the holidays and SO FUN! I’m not sure I understand the last part of your comment, but yes very unfortunate. We are still working on it and hoping and praying that VERY SOON, I’ll have it back! Take care and ENJOY YOUR THURSDAY! Always good to hear from you! XO
