MEMORIAL DAY ~ WHAT TO WEAR, PACK, & HAVE
Memorial Day weekend is fast approaching, and the unofficial beginning of summer….. I know, already! We have jumped into the 3-digit weather here in Southern Utah, so I’ve already been wearing flip-flops and shorts. Many of you have travel plans, lake trips, BBQ’s, and family gatherings. It’s always the best feeling moving into a new season….. even if it is hot!
I’ve learned over the years that Memorial Day style should feel relaxed, comfortable, and simple, and the more it is, the better you’ll feel. You don’t need an entirely new wardrobe. With a few classic summer pieces mixed together with what’s already at hand, you’ll be able to create outfits that feel good and allow you to participate in whatever is on your agenda.

WHAT TO WEAR
I always look to my jeans first, and a pair of white ones feel fresh for summer. Pair them with comfortable flat sandals (a necessity), a striped lightweight sweater (depending on where you are), even a classic button-down shirt can look so CHIC. Indeed you won’t ever go wrong with a pair of white jeans. They’re classic, fresh, and so many styles to choose from.
FOUR GREAT LOOKS TO SHOP
Depending on your holiday plans of course, I’ve tried to come up with a variety of ideas. Breezy midi dresses are a super comfortable option for brunch, outdoor dinners, church, and even a casual backyard gathering. Linen fabrics are your friend, along with pretty florals… and think relaxed fits for sure. Unquestionably, this is the time to pull out the denim shorts with an oversized shirt perhaps. Add sneakers, sporty sandals, or your favorite hat and sunnies and that’s about as easy as it gets.

PACK A CAPSULE
If you’ll be traveling for Memorial Day weekend, I always recommend packing versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched easily. This would be considered a capsule collection. A lightweight denim jacket, is one of my biggest essentials because it’s something easily forgotten. Evenings can still cool down, and it goes with literally everything.
This capsule has fifteen pieces, and all mix and match with each other. Three comfortable bottoms, three tops, a jacket, hat, sunnies, a swimsuit and coverup, and finally a couple pieces of easy jewelry.
WHAT TO HAVE
There are also a few things I would have on hand for any kind of Memorial Day outing, and summer in general. An insulated tumbler, a cooler for the car, simple beauty products, large beach blanket, bug spray, sunscreen, and a great lounge set will instantly make the weekend feel more comfy….. especially after a day full of activities. Bringing a tote bag that holds all these essentials, and is easy to grab, is a smart idea! THIS TOTE from Patricia Nash is amazing. The denim blue is gorgeous, the construction is exceptional, and it holds more than you’d think! Use code SHAUNA10 for a 10% discount!!
COZY SETS THAT ARE AFFORDABLE
KEEP IT SIMPLE
Finally, the best Memorial Day style is the kind that feels easy and effortless. Without a doubt think about comfortable clothes, easy accessories, and simple summer essentials are really all you need. Most importantly, wear the things that make you feel relaxed and ready to enjoy the long weekend ahead.
