LEANING MORE INTO NEUTRALS ~ HOW MY PERSONAL STYLE IS CHANGING
I can’t believe I’m saying it….. but I feel myself leaving some of the color I’ve loved forever, behind. WHAT? Color has been such a huge part of my personal style for years. Bright pinks, blues, greens, yellows…. you know I’ve never been afraid of it. Color energizes and excites me. But lately, I’ve noticed a real shift. I’m noticing more all the beautiful neutrals out there, and I’m loving the way they look on me. I’m even finding myself shopping for them.
And honestly….. I”m a little surprised by this! It has me wondering, WHY NOW?

PERSONAL STYLE IS ALWAYS EVOLVING
I think sometimes we forget that our personal style isn’t supposed to stay exactly the same forever. The way we dress changes right along with us. Our lifestyle changes, our bodies change, trends influence us, and even our eye changes. Something that didn’t excite us five years ago can suddenly feel completely fresh. For me, neutrals are feeling less boring and more sophisticated.

NEUTRALS ARE FEELING MORE CHIC AND EFFORTLESS
Maybe I’m craving a little more simplicity these days. Neutral outfits have an ease about them that I’m really appreciating. There’s something beautiful about wearing several shades of cream, tan, brown, or black together. Instead of the color being the focus, suddenly I notice the shape of the clothes, the textures, the accessories, and all those little styling details.
I found some beautiful finds at ZARA recently and posted here in THIS BLOG, the REEL IS HERE.
CLEAN CLASSIC AND ANYTHING BUT BASIC
I love how this look below mixes classic pieces with interesting details. The unique shape of the TEE gives off a modern vibe, while the wide-leg TROUSERS keep everything timeless. The statement BELT and chunky gold NECKLACE add just enough personality, and then just a hint of color in the EARRINGS seemed just right. And the GOLD MULES and suede BAG are the finishing touches! Classy and anything but basic!

ASYMETTRICAL PANTS LIKE A SKIRT
These asymmetrical PANTS are such a fun take on a fall neutral…. they almost read like a skirt, but with the ease and comfort of pants. I kept the rest of the look simple with a SWEATER TANK, lightweight sheer SWEATER over my shoulders, and simple black FLIP-FLOPS. The olive tone is beautiful for fall, and the pop of red from the BAG keeps all the neutrals from feeling too predictable. One more thing…. EARRINGS to polish it off. Easy, comfy, and CHIC….. yes a winner!

NEUTRALS WITH JEANS ALWAYS WORKS
Jeans always pair so beautifully with neutrals, and I love how easy this look feels while still having plenty of personality. This is actually a JACKET, which acts great as a shirt. I would wear a light neutral TOP underneath to give it some layers. Neutrals are such a great canvas because you can accessorize with absolutely ANY color you want, such as THIS NECKLACE. These Chico’s JEANS have the cutest side detail and the black PLATFORMS are such a fun statement shoe….. especially for fall with a cute pair of socks! And these neutral SUNNIES? I wear them with literally everything. My BAG here is darling, such an interesting shape, and again the texture adds so much interest to the whole look.

I WON’T EVER GIVE UP COLOR
Let’s not get crazy here….. I will ALWAYS love color. But what I’m learning is that it doesn’t have to be one or the other. A neutral outfit with a colorful shoe, scarf, handbag, or fun earrings still feels very much like me. In fact, having more neutrals in my closet gives my colorful pieces even more opportunities to shine.
I recently wore THIS JUMPSUIT to a wedding and added the colorful SCARF tied at the waist. It’s funny because even my husband told me the other day not to wear all black, because it didn’t look like me (even he knows I love my color). However, I really liked this look…… it felt CHIC, sophisticated, and a just a little bit glamorous. I should also note that THESE HEELS are dynamite and actually comfortable! I wore them for six hours without any problems!

FINDING A NEW VERSION OF MY STYLE
Maybe leaning into more neutrals is simply another reminder that we don’t have to put ourselves in a style box. You be the woman who loves head-to-toe color one day and the woman wearing chocolate brown and cream the next. I actually love that my style is still surprising ME! And who knows…… maybe this neutral phase will stick around, or maybe next month I’ll be back in hot pink from head to toe! Either way, I’m having fun paying attention to what feels good NOW.
Because I think that’s what personal style is really about.
