A SIMPLE MORNING ROUTINE THAT SETS THE TONE FOR THE DAY
If you’ve ever felt rushed, scattered, or behind before your day even starts, your morning routine might be the reason. I’ve found that a simple, consistent morning routine…. especially now that I’m older, can completely change how my day unfolds. It gives me energy, focus, and a sense of calm before my day gets busy.
QUIET TIME BEFORE THE DAY BEGINS
There’s something so peaceful about the early morning hours. I’ve always liked to get up before anyone else, just like my mama. This is when I say my prayers, and spend a few minutes planning out my day. It helps me feel grounded and centered before the day starts. It always amazes me how if I skip this simple routine….. things don’t go as smooth!

MY MOST PRODUCTIVE HOURS
After that, I move right into a couple of hours of focused work. Feeling clear-headed and uninterrupted is when I get so much done. I work my Instagram, go through my emails, and answer my DMs. Feeling like I have a head start on my day eases so much stress. It really does give me such a sense of purpose and momentum.

SIMPLE MORNING FUEL
I used to not eat anything before I went to the gym, but I’ve changed that after some research. However, I do still keep things light. I always start my day with two glasses of water. Within the next hour or so I usually have a piece of fruit. If we have them on hand, I’ll grab one of the protein power balls my husband makes…. they’re delicious and the perfect little boost. They also make a great snack!
PROTEIN POWER BALLS
- 3 c oats
- 1/2 c chopped walnuts (toasted)
- 2 c peanut butter
- 3/4 c honey
- 1/4 c chocolate protein powder
- ¼ c mini chocolate chips
- 1 c toasted coconut
- 1/2 c chopped dried mangos
- 1/4 c chia seeds
- 1/4 c hemp hearts
- 1/4 c cocoa powder
Mix everything together, roll into small balls, and refrigerate. EASY and SO DELICIOUS!
MOVEMENT COMES NEXT
Next, I head out for either a walk or the gym, depending on if I need to incorporate weights (which is 3x per week), for 60-90 minutes. Moving my body in the morning gives me energy, clears my mind, gets me away from my desk and computer, and helps me feel strong! Everybody knows, that this is NOT optional for me!!!!

RESET AND GET READY
After I’m home, I spend some time in my red light bag. It’s HERE. Then time to shower and get ready for the day. By the time I sit down for some breakfast, which is usually whole grain cereal with fresh berries and walnuts, it’s about noon. My breakfast is simple, easy, nourishing, and might be my favorite meal!

WHY I THRIVE ON ROUTINE
I’ve learned (as I mentioned above) that when I don’t follow this routine, I feel off….. less focused, less calm. I truly thrive on routines. My parents were both like this, so no wonder. But I LOVE it. I love working hard, accomplishing much, and checking things off my to-do list. This mindset gives structure to my day and helps me show up as my best self.
A SIMPLE HABIT WILL CHANGE YOUR DAY
So….. if you’re struggling to get a hold of your life, adding even one or two of these habits will make a difference. A simple morning routine will definitely set the tone for your day. And sometimes it’s the simplest routines that help us feel our best, and this one has worked for me for years!
