WHY I’M LOVING SOLID COLORS ~ A SURPRISING STYLE SHIFT
If you’ve been following me for a while, it’s no secret that for years and years, I have been the girl who loves a good print or pattern. Give me a bold floral, colorful stripes, or an unexpected print and I’m happy! In fact one of my favorite styling tricks has always been to mix different patterns together. They’ve always been a big part of my personal style.
But lately, I’ve discovered something about myself that I honestly didn’t expect! I’m reaching for solids more and more. And I’m really loving the flexibility this gives me. It seems that it’s the outfits in solid colors that I like most on myself. I used to think that was boring………. but not anymore. It feels a little more modern to me.

Maybe it’s because of my age? They do seem more sophisticated. And when I travel, I’m finding that solids are so much easier to pack and style. They mix and match so easily, they photograph beautifully, and they actually give me more options with fewer pieces. And if I’m being completely honest, I think solids can be more slimming too. Without a print competing for attention, the overall silhouette feels longer and more streamlined.

IMAGINE A CLOSET FULL OF COLOR
Here’s the part I really love…. solids don’t have to mean boring! Imagine a closet filled with beautiful solid colors of red, pink, green, yellow, blue, white, black, brown, and everything in between. As well as that, think about all the color-blocking possibilities! And all the monochrome outfits in different shades of the same color. Absolutely STRIKING!!
Suddenly, a solid-color wardrobe will be incredibly colorful and creative. My prints and patterns aren’t going anywhere. They’re just taking a little bit of a backseat right now. I’m finding that solids give me the versatility, simplicity, and polish that I’ve been drawn to.

EVOLVING STYLE IS A GOOD THING
Without a doubt…. solids are having their moment in my closet. They feel interesting, creative, and yes…. ELEVATED, just as the fashion gods would say! I’ve certainly surprised myself with this shift. Indeed it’s been such a fun change. And last but not least, the things I thought I couldn’t live without are becoming the things I reach for a little less often.
