THE POWER OF PROPORTIONS WITH THIS LACE SKIRT

This gorgeous floral lace pencil skirt took center stage on my Instagram feed….. so many of you liked, commented, and messaged me about it. Was it the feminine lace detail? The flattering pencil silhouette? Or maybe just how incredibly versatile it is? Whatever the reason, it’s safe to say this piece is a winner and a keeper!!!!

For me, it’s one of those things in my closet I can wear again and again. It’s super easy to style and works for so many occasions. In my RECENT REEL, I showed you three ways to wear it. First, with a ruffled denim top (you’ve seen me wear this top before….. it’s a fave over here). Second, with a graphic tee, because I love mixing casual and dressier pieces. And third, with a sweet ruffled white t-shirt.

But the key to wearing anything, not just this skirt, is proportions. For me, I always define my waist. At my height, it’s important to highlight the smallest part of my frame. But if you’d rather not emphasize your mid-section, you could go with a a slightly looser top that skims over the waist and hits more at the hips. This is still flattering, but more forgiving.

Proportions are everything when it come to looking your best. They create balance, draw attention to your best features, and help you feel confident in what you’re wearing. If you’re not sure what works best for your shape, start by paying attention to what makes you feel the most put together. Want to elongate your look? Choose soft, drapey fabrics and pieces that create vertical lines. If you’re comfortable with your waistline…. try belting dresses or tucking in tops. It’s all about experimenting and finding those silhouettes that make you feel beautiful. When your outfit is balanced…. visually and proportionally, you’ll walk out of your house feeling amazing.

As I said in the beginning….. there are so many ways to wear this skirt. Here are some other ideas to think about. First, try a lightweight cardigan tucked in or left out, or second, add a summer jacket. For fall….. just imagine it with a cozy sweater and tall boots, look three. The first and third look here, are perfect if you’re one to want to disguise your middle. Tell me how you would wear it.

Knowing the power of proportions, can change your entire mindset, when it comes to getting dressed. Why wouldn’t we want to look our best? However you would wear it, your goal should be to feel amazing. Clothing is meant not only to cover, but to have fun with and make you feel gorgeous!
