PART II AGING WITH GRACE

Over the past few months, I’ve made some changes to my approach to exercise, and the results have been surprising in the best way. I’ve shifted my mindset to focus on moderation rather than pushing myself to the limit. Instead of chasing my max heart rate, I’m keeping my workouts in a comfortable range…. between 110 and 125 bpm. This has been a game-changer for me, especially when it comes to managing cortisol and inflammation. My workouts feel easier, yet I still feel strong and energized.

This blog is an update to THIS POST from a few months ago.

Three days a week, I do a 30-minute weight routine…. similar to what I’ve done for years, but without the pressure to overdo it. When I’m traveling now, I don’t stress about making it to a gym. The walking and activity that come with travel have been enough for me, and I’ve finally made peace with that. It’s taken me a very long time to let go of the “all or nothing” mentality. And I mean it’s taken me my whole adult life pretty much! If I wasn’t pushing and pushing in the gym, I wasn’t happy.

Another small but meaningful change? Eating a little something before the gym. I’m no longer working out on an empty stomach, and it’s made a difference. I was sure these adjustments…. especially easing up on intensity, would cause some weight gain, but to my surprise, I’ve actually lost about five pounds. Even better, my sugar cravings have diminished, and I feel more balanced overall.

I’ll drink ONE OF THESE protein drinks or have ONE OF THESE protein bars.

Of course, I’m still working on finding that sweet spot between my work and personal life. Travel is exhilarating to say the least, but can leave me playing catch-up which leads to extra stress. But this journey is about GRACE, (I keep telling myself that) and I’m learning to give myself more.

One of my newest favorite treats is a smoothie made from Grapes From California! I’ve partnered with them again this year, and love to share my ideas for our most eaten snack. I blend grapes, non-fat yogurt, strawberries, banana, and a splash of grape juice. It’s creamy, refreshing, and loaded with benefits. Antioxidants, that support my heart health, potassium for muscle recovery, and vitamin C. Plus, the yogurt adds protein to keep me full. This is REALLY GOOD!
