BEFORE THE RESOLUTIONS BEGIN
In my last blog post HERE, I talked about what I’m letting go of this New Year. This post is an extension of those thoughts, ones that I think many of you will find helpful. I’m a goal-setter….. it’s part of who I am. It’s my way of being INTENTIONAL about what I’m doing. But before we rush into vision boards and goal lists, I want to pause here for a second. Not to plan…. but to reflect. Because before you decide what you want 2026 to look like for you, it’s worth asking…… Have you really looked at the year you’ve just lived?

THE POWER OF HONESTY
As you do some self-reflection, make sure you do two things: do it without judgment and do it with honesty. What worked for you last year? What felt surprisingly good? What was nourishing? And just as importantly as those, what didn’t? Not everything needs fixing. Some things deserve keeping. Growth isn’t always about more… oftentimes it’s about less.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY?
If you could rewind a few moments from the past year, what would you change? Would you protect your time more fiercely? What about speaking sooner? Reflection isn’t about regret…. it’s about clarity. When you notice patterns, you gain perspective and control. Understanding what didn’t work, will give you a clearer, more positive path forward.
WHAT ACTUALLY WORKS FOR YOU?
We’re often told what we should want or how we should set goals. Honestly at this age, I’m less affected by what people think. But have you ever stopped to ask whether goal-setting even works for you? Do you thrive with structure or flow? Do deadlines motivate you or drain you? Do you set intentions and habits, or nothing at all? There’s NO right way, there’s only what supports YOUR life.

THE THREE WORDS THAT WILL GUIDE MY 2026
For 2026, my three words are INTENTION, CALM, and PRESENT. The word CALM carries over from last year, and while I’ve made good progress, there’s still more work to do. I want to move through this year with intention… choosing how I spend my time, energy, and my attention. I want to protect my calm. This isn’t something passive, but as something I’ll actively cultivate. And finally, I want to be present….. with my family, in my relationships, and in the everyday moments. Not rushing ahead, but fully here for what matters NOW.
A GENTLE QUESTION TO ASK YOURSELF
Before the resolutions begin…. I want you to ask yourself this question: What do I want more of in my life next year, and what am I ready to release? You don’t need answers yet. Just awareness. Because awareness creates clarity, and clarity gives you the space to choose differently. This honest reflection, is where real change begins.
