TENNIS SAVED MY LIFE

Looking back, I can see how tennis played a pivotal role in saving my life. After my three boys were all in school, I discovered tennis…… a game that quickly became my passion. It wasn’t just a sport either. Turns out it was a lifeline during one of the most difficult periods of my life.

At the time, I was navigating a very interesting marriage. The challenges I faced at home were overwhelming, that of worry, wonder, and suspician. Without me realizing it, tennis offered me an escape. The competition was something I thrived on, a challenge that gave me purpose. I loved the game, but even more, I loved the friendships I formed on the court. Being part of a team made me feel connected, supported, and less alone. Tennis became my sanctuary really, a place where I could focus on something other than the chaos at home.

The game provided more than just physical exercise….. it gave me something to strive for. The progress I made on the court was a source of pride, a reminder that I was capable of growth and achievement, even when my personal life felt like it was falling apart. Tennis gave me a sense of accomplishment and a reason to keep pushing forward.

TENNIS SAVED MY LIFE

Looking back, I realize that tennis was there for me during the storm, perhaps even orchestrated by God to help me survive. When I finally made the difficult decision to leave my marriage, I also left tennis behind. It had served its purpose, getting me through the darkest days of my life.

Although tennis saved my life in many ways, I now have golf to fill that void. It allows me to compete against myself and continue to grow. I’ll always be grateful for the game that was such a blessing to me, when I needed it the most.
