FEELING MY BEST IS CRUCIAL – ZION NATIONAL PARK
  1. PRIORITIZE REGULAR EXERCISE – Incorporating regular physical activity helps maintain a healthy weight, boosts mood, and reduces the risk of chronic diseases. I aim for at least sixty minute workouts, six days a week. However, if you’re not doing anything… doing something is better than nothing! Strength training at least a couple of times a week, is very important as well.
  2. BALANCED DIET – A well-balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains is essential. Focus on nutrient-dense foods that provide vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to support overall health and combat age-related issues.
  3. STAY HYDRATED – Drinking enough water is crucial for maintaining energy levels, supporting digestion, and keeping skin healthy. Strive for at least eight glasses of water a day, and adjust based on your activity level and climate. Don’t drink your calories!!
  4. MANAGE STRESS – I’ve learned so much about stress the last few months. Chronic stress can lead to various health issues, for me migraines. Deep breathing, stretching, and a daily routine can be crucial.
  5. REGULAR HEALTH SCREENINGS – Stay on top of health screenings and preventive care. Regular check-ups, mammograms, bone density tests, dental, and cholesterol checks can catch potential issues early.
  6. MENTAL HEALTH CARE – Mental health is as important as physical health. Practices such as mindfulness, meditation and prayer, and yoga can help manage stress and promote emotional well-being.
  7. QUALITY SLEEP – I try to get between 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Establish a regular sleep schedule, create a calming bedtime routine, and ensure your sleep environment is comfortable and free of distractions.
  8. STAY SOCIALLY CONNECTED – Strong social connections can improve mental and emotional health. Engage in activities that bring you joy and maintain close relationships with friends and family. My mama was the perfect example of this.
  9. HORMONAL HEALTH – Midlife often brings hormonal changes that can affect mood, energy levels, and physical health. I’m happy to say I’m not on any hormones. However, if you feel off, please consult with a healthcare provider to manage symptoms and consider natural or medical treatments IF necessary. My personal opinion is DON’T go there just because your friend has.
  10. LIFELONG LEARNING – Keeping your mind active is beneficial for cognitive health. Take up new hobbies. Keep learning all you can through reading, researching, and attending classes. This is great stimulation for your brain.
