LEARNING TO “LET THEM”

LEARNING TO "LET THEM"

LEARNING TO “LET THEM” …. SET YOURSELF FREE

I was given a book by Mel Robbins a couple of months ago, called LET THEM. I have to say…. it’s been one of the most liberating messages I’ve ever come across. I’m not even through the entire book, but it’s already having such an impact on how I think and feel, and how I’m responding to the world around me. No kidding!!

For most of my life, I’ve cared way too much about what other people think. I’ve worried if someone misunderstood me, replaying conversations in my head wondering if I said something wrong, and letting other people’s opinions and judgments affect me. And honestly? I’ve known it’s all ridiculous, but have such a tendency to go there. That kind of worry is exhausting. I’ve wondered if that way of thinking, could be part of the reason for my migraines? It truly has the ability to take over your life!

LEARNING TO "LET THEM"

Mel Robbin’s philosophy is so simple…… LET THEM. Let them think what they want. And let them walk away. What about let them behave however they choose? Let them criticize, gossip, roll their eyes at me. LET THEM! Their actions are not a reflection of me! They are a reflection of them! By learning to stop trying to manage everyone else’s perceptions, I free up so much energy to live my life WITH JOY, CONFIDENCE, and CLARITY!

Since starting this book, I’ve noticed a real shift in my mindset. Instead of feeling stressed out about what someone said to me, I’m leaning into trust…. trusting myself and my values. It’s incredibly liberating!!! Part of what she says is that YOU need to be proud of the life you are living, and of your intentions and actions. Integrity has always been important to me, and I know that God knows where my heart has been. I need to trust that more, and be okay with everything else!

____________

If you’re someone who struggles with people-pleasing or overthinking what others might say or do….. I can’t recommend LET THEM enough! It’s not just a book…. it’s your permission to stop chasing approval and start standing in YOUR POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So………. here’s LEARNING TO LET THEM! LET THEM, and then LET ME! Read this book, I promise it will change your life!!!!!

  1. Dear Shanna,
I so enjoyed what you had to say on Mother’s Day. So many truths in what you shared. Your mama sounds like she was another “Wonder Woman.” The framed pic that you shared of your young boys is “tender sweet.” And their beautiful mother. I can guess who styled them.
The book “The Let Them Theory,” sounds like it’s opening doors to the way you respond to others and how to let things go and not to internalize things.
Happy Mothers Day, I hope it’s been joyful day.

    1. Hello Katherine…. thank you kindly for stopping by, and for your kind words! I loved dressing my little boys way back when, and have such fun memories of that. M mother truly was amazing, and I’m still being influenced by her! If you haven’t read the book LET THEM, you should. Seriously so life-changing! Have a wonderful week, and come back again soon! XOXO

  2. Thank you for this post, Shauna! I have read it several times over, and it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time in my life. I have let way too many imaginary conversations spend way too much time in my head…and yes, it is emotionally exhausting! I’m beyond ready to free myself from the thoughts and words of others and start trusting more in the person I know myself to be! Can’t wait for my book to arrive!

    1. Hi Laura, I’m so HAPPY it resonated with you. This book did the same thing for me. In fact, I was at lunch today with some girlfriends, and we were all talking about how life-changing it is. I’m glad you’re squashing those conversations out in your head! You’re going to LOVE your book! Thank you for your thoughts, and come back again soon! XO
