FALL 2026 FASHION TRENDS YOU CAN ACTUALLY WEAR

fall 2026 fashion trends you can actually wear

Fall has always been my favorite of all the seasons to shop for, and I love seeing what’s trending each year. For me though, trends are really just fun inspiration….. Instead of following every single one, I like to see what works with my style, what flatters my body, and what feels like me. And if something doesn’t? I’m more than happy to leave it behind.

How many fall trends do you see in the look above? Read on…. then come back and tell me what you spotted. I’m pretty sure I’ve got at least two…. maybe even three! SHOP THE LOOK here……

Let’s get to it…………

Yes, they’re back! Slouchy boots are one of the biggest shoe trends for fall, from relaxed suede styles to tall leather versions with just the right amount of scrunch. I’m trying, but I’ll have to choose strategically how to style them.

This is such a pretty way to layer. Capelets, shrugs, cropped capes and shoulder-covering pieces showed up all over the Fall 2026 runways. I think they are so ladylike and feminine. I think I’d like these on myself, but they don’t seem practical, and I’m so much about that.

Denim is looking a little more sophisticated this season. Think dark washes, straighter cuts and tailored silhouettes that can easily be dressed up with a blazer or jacket.

Fall 2026 is certainly not all beige. Look for berry, chocolate brown, olive and earthy greens, tomato red, soft pink and beautiful shades of blue. Even though I’m sort of in a neutral phase right now as far as what I’m loving, I always appreciate bold colors for any season.

Shorter jackets are still going strong, especially paired with high-waisted jeans and trousers. They will really help define the waist and at the same time, make an outfit feel current. They are perfect in my book because of my short torso.

Shoes are getting sleeker. Look for slim loafers, ballet flats, T-straps and lower-profile shapes rather than chunky soles.

Studs, sequins, texture and unexpected feminine details are showing up on denim this fall. At the same time, this trend feels really wearable because it adds personality without taking over the whole outfit.

Top-handle bags are back in a big way, along with slouchy oversized styles, croc textures, and larger totes. Accessories are definitely doing more of the talking this season. I don’t think I can totally embrace this trend….. I’ve loved my smaller, just right crossbody bags for years, and they still feel the most practical and comfortable for me.

Heritage checks and plaids are back, showing up in everything from blazers and trousers to skirts, coats, and accessories. I love how classic they feel, but this season they’re being styled in fresher, more modern ways… perfect if you want a trend that feels timeless.

Peplum silhouettes are making a comeback for Fall 2026, adding shape, femininity, and a little polish to tops and jackets. I especially like that they define the waist and can make even a simple outfit feel more interesting…… just choose the versions that feel modern rather than overly fussy.

__________

Absolutely, we don’t need to wear every trend that comes along. Pick the ones that feel like YOU, mix them with pieces already in your closet…. they are meant to be fun. They really can make everything feel fresh again!
