MIDLIFE WOMEN’S FASHION TRENDS ~ WHAT’S WORTH TRYING

Midlife Women's Fashion Trends ~ What's Worth Trying

Let’s be honest, not every trend is going to be a winner, but you know me…. I’m always willing to try! Fashion should be fun, and sometimes the trends that we question the most are the ones that become our favorites.

Here are a few of today’s biggest trends…. and my honest take.

Everyone said that barrel jeans wouldn’t work on someone my height, but they have actually become one of my favorite styles. Check out the picture above, wearing one of my favorite pairs from ANTHROPOLOGIE. For whatever reason, I feel great in them. They work on my body-type, and even though I’m not tall, I still feel like I can wear them with flats, sneakers, and heels.

I STILL HAVE THIS LACE DETAILED PAIR AND LOVE THEM

I’ve seen all the contouring videos and know how beautifully they can sculpt and define the face. But for me….. this is one trend I’m leaving behind. I prefer makeup that enhances my features without adding extra steps. That extra time absolutely drives me crazy. Maybe I’m just not patient enough, but I’ve found that simple is better….. at least for me.

I’ve linked my basic makeup products several times, but here they are again in case you missed. I honestly switch off between this CHANEL foundation and this NARS tinted moisturizer. I love them both and tend to use NARS out golfing because it’s got sunscreen.

I’ll admit that years ago when I saw these I thought they were awful. And I didn’t expect to start loving them now. I’ve heard some of you say they are too hot, but I haven’t found that to be the case. I also haven’t worn them for hours in the summer heat, so time will tell! For everyday errands and casual outfits, I think they’re cute, current, and I especially love wearing them around the house.

I love a matching set…. when it’s the right one. I pay attention to the fabric, the fit, and also think about whether or not I can wear the pieces separately. The best sets have an effortless (not sloppy) vibe, which is why I wear them several days a week. Some favorites linked below.

This one here is from FREE PEOPLE. The top is very cropped and that’s one reason I like it. The length is actually perfect for me because I’m very short waisted. The fabric is butter soft too, and an absolute favorite right now….. linked here.

For me, Bermuda shorts need a little height. I prefer wearing them with at least a kitten heel to keep the look polished and balanced. With flat shoes they can sometimes feel a bit frumpy on my frame, but add a heel and they instantly become very CHIC and I actually like them!

Even though this look above isn’t bad, and blazers have been trending for several years now, every time I put one on I feel like I’m wearing someone else’s clothes. They look fabulous on so many women, but they just don’t feel authentic to my personal style. I’ve learned that’s reason enough to leave them in the store.

These colorful necklaces instantly brighten even the simplest outfit. I love them! Wear them with tees, dresses, trousers, jeans…. anything really. They’re playful, cheerful, and such a fun way to add personality without overthinking it.

The biggest style lesson I’ve learned over the years? Don’t wear something just because it’s trending or you like it in the store. Ask yourself the big questions….. how does it fit into my lifestyle, can I wear it with other things I already own, can it be worn three different ways. Those are key questions that will help you make good decisions. The best trend you’ll ever follow is staying true to your own style!
