Christmas Traditions

The older I get the more important Christmas traditions become. Some of my fondest memories as a child were centered around Christmas. I grew up in a very large family, and our Christmases were probably much smaller than the norm, but they were full of sweet times and beautiful memories. My mother usually sewed my Christmas dress. I could always find it tucked way back in her closet……yes I was a snooper! One time I remember being underneath her bed with my older brother, my feet sticking out, and in she came! Oopsie!!!! I was even known to unwrap my gifts and then rewrap them and place them nicely underneath the tree. I was terrible! Thank heavens that urge is gone! I like the surprise so much more now!!!!!!!

One of the BEAUTIFUL things we have here in Salt Lake City, Utah, is Temple Square. It is always so well manicured at any season, but at Christmastime…..it comes to life! It’s absolutely brilliant with thousands and thousands of lights! It has been a beautiful display of light and sparkle since 1965!!! Here is a little history of the LIGHTS on Temple Square. We love to visit at least once during the holidays, and is one of our favorite Christmas traditions. If you’re in town, it is an ABSOLUTE MUST SEE, and I promise you’ll love it!

I would love to hear about your holiday traditions! It’s never too late to start a new one! These traditions and memories are what your little ones will hang on to as they begin their families. I’m grateful for mine and will be talking about them in the next few weeks. Have a great Sunday everyone!!!!!!!

My leopard vest is sold out but here are some other options for the ever-trending leopard coat!!!!!

  1. I was a “snooper” as a child, too, and was determined my kids wouldn’t be given the opportunity to snoop. I would wrap their gifts and incorporate them into our Christmas decor. Rather than tagging them, I’d write a teeny code somewhere on the wrapping paper and on Christmas Eve I’d tag them and put them under the tree. All of that was probably for naught because my kids were much better than I was and never showed any sign of wanting to know where their gifts were or what they were getting for Christmas. Though they are grown and gone, we continue to use wrapped “gifts” as Christmas decor.

    1. This is FANTASTIC Dawn!!!!! It sounds like a lot of work to “code”? What a fun memory though, you’re making for your family! THANK YOU for your comment!!!!!!!!!! Happy holidays! xo

  2. Well, your photos are beautiful! One of my most cherished memories was watching the movie Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire with my mother every Christmas season. Now that she is gone, I continue the tradition of putting up our tree with that movie on, along with the help of my two daughters. That is what we did today… so perfect!

    1. Hi Deb…..what a sweet memory!!!! I think it’s so important to carry them on in to the next generation!!! I bet your tree looks BEAUTIFUL…..happy holidays! XO

  3. I think we started a new tradition yesterday. My adult kids and I had went to the gym, then sat in the hot tub at home and had hot cocoa with rum chata! Then decorated the tree and the house! Fun
